Wyatt & Blake have represented a number of employees, officers, as well as companies, in connection with environmental crimes investigations. The Environmental Crimes Section of the United States Department of Justice, along with agents from the Environmental Protection Agency, investigate and prosecutes criminal cases against individuals and organizations that violate federal environmental laws. For example, Wyatt & Blake represented numerous employees from a Fortune 500 company who received grand jury subpoenas in connection with a highly publicized Clean Water Act investigation by the Department of Justice. The company pled guilty to misdemeanor offenses, but no individual employees were prosecuted.
Other noteworthy environmental cases in which Wyatt & Blake have represented clients include the representations of a senior employee in connection with an investigation under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) following the explosion of waste at a chemical manufacturing plant that resulted in the death of an employee and the representation of a company and its owner for allegedly illegally dumping grease trap waste.
