The North Carolina Attorney General’s Office (“NCAG”) investigates conduct that may violate North Carolina’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (“UDTPA”) (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-1.1). If it determines that a violation of the UDTPA has occurred, it may initiate civil litigation on behalf of the state and seek injunctive relief and monetary damages (including treble damages). The NCAG has the authority to issue civil subpoenas (CIDs) in connection with its investigations. Wyatt & Blake has experience representing individuals and companies who are under investigation and/or have received CIDs issued by the NCAG.
